In the introduction of the book it says this: "women cannot afford to put off self-care until "life eases up," "the toddlers are in school," "the kids leave for college," or "we're through with the crisis at hand." It was precisely in the moments of complete overwhelm that we realized if we did not start practicing nourishing routines, we would sink. And if Mama starts going down, the whole family ship goes on tilt with her. "
This statement cannot be anymore true! This really hit home with me and made me realize just how much my nourishment effects the rest of my family. The book Nourished inspires women to not only nourish themselves but their children and marriage as well. The authors of this book take turns in sharing their failures and nourishing moments, in hopes that the readers will take something away from it to help them nourish their own lives. This book covers just about every area of a woman's life, and throws in some laughs along the way. I absolutely loved this book and I am now encouraged to nourish my own life and family as well. I strongly recommend this book to every woman who is in need of nourishment in her search of health, happiness and a good nights sleep!
About the book:
Order-loving, thirty-something Rachel, and her laid-back, messy mother, Becky, are opposites in many ways. But they both believe that women long for a life that nourishes them inside and out. In this book, the mother-daughter duo will help you make that dream a reality by tackling the “Top 10 Stressors” that mess with a woman’s mind, such as:
•Cluttered Surroundings •Exhaustion of parenting
•Time-starved marriages •Feeling like a spiritual slacker
•Crowded Schedules •Negative Body Image
Following a series of trial-and-error experiments, Becky and Rachel share laugh-out-loud stories, fascinating research, and practical tips to design and a nourished life that fits your personality. By learning how to embrace “nourishing compromises,” you’ll never put happiness on hold again. If you are feeling drained, discontent, or discouraged, join a couple of understanding, entertaining companions on the journey from overwhelmed to nourished.
